Sunday Afternoon Jazz Impromptu
Season three of my Sunday Afternoon Jazz Impromptu concert series comes to an end tomorrow, October 30th. As always, it all happens in front of my home on President St. between Columbia and Van Brunt Streets, in my beloved Red Hook, Brooklyn! We’ll be going from 2pm to 3:30pm.
This last performance I’ll be featuring my crown jewel, La Familia Sextet! This ensemble has been together since 2004 with the same musicians! The sextet features Misha Tsiganov on keys, Jennifer Vincent on bass, Renato Thoms on percussion, Maximilian Schweiger on bari sax, Rick Faulkner on trombone and myself on drums & vocals.

The NYC Salsa All Stars!
I’m super excited to be performing with my good friends of the NYC Salsa All Stars. The All Stars is a collective ensemble of salsa band leaders who have performed with the likes of Johnny Pacheco, Ray Barretto, Johnny Colon, Willie Colon and so many more!
We’ll be a part of the Brooklyn Folk Fest for the fourth time in six years. We’re all super excited to return this year after a year off due to the pandemic.

Joining me will be Edsel Gomez on piano, Bernie Minoso on bass and Bob Franceschini on reeds!

I’m thrilled to be performing with my dear friend and crazy cohort, trombonist J. Walter Hawkes, at a fantastic venue in Bed Stuy, Bar Lunático!
We’ll be focusing on the music of iconic trombonist, Bennie Green!
Onboard will be Walter on trombone, Tom Beckham on vibraphone, Joey Johnson on tenor saxophone and myself on drums.

Nelson Aspen!
I’m so excited to be performing again with actor, vocalist and master storyteller, Nelson Aspen. The venue, Green Room 42, is one of the hippest cabaret rooms in NYC!
Nelson is truly amazing! The way he weaves his stories throughout the night is super compelling! And, he’s hilarious!
The group consists of musical director Gerry Dieffenbach, bassist Melissa Slocum and myself on drums.
Our special guest this evening will be none other than Ilene Kristen, best known for her role as Delia Ryan in the ABC soap opera Ryan's Hope and her Emmy-nominated performances as Roxy Balsom on One Life to Live!
It’ll be a fabulous trip and I hope you can take it with us!

NYC Salsa All Stars
I’ll be performing with some of the most swinging latin musicians in New York City! One set from noon to 1pm. The concert will be outdoors and free to the public in Columbus Park, right in front of the steps of Brooklyn Boro Hall in Downtown Brooklyn.

I’ll be performing in a really intimate setting at Brownstone Jazz in Bed Stuy Brooklyn! This is a truly unique concept, in that it all takes place in the parlor of a 1860’s brownstone!
I’ll be sharing the night with a guest pianist, and bassist/musical director Eric Lemon. Hope you can come by and enjoy some fantastic music in a fantastic setting!

Zaccai Curtis & CuBop!
So looking forward to joining my good friend Zaccai Curtis and his fantastic ensemble CuBop once again! This is a seriously swinging quartet featuring Zaccai on piano, Luques Curtis on bass, Camilo Molina on congas and myself on timbales!
The music featured is of the 50’s and 60’s Latin Big Band Era, distilled into a quartet format. There are also some Curtis Brother’s originals sprinkled in! This is going to be a really smokin’ show! I so hope you can join us!

I’m really excited to be bringing back my Jazz@Mass series to my church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
Jazz is intertwined with the Sunday liturgy, resulting in a very unique spiritual experience! Joining me will be pianist, Silvano Monesterios, bassist Melissa Slocum and Rob Thomas on violin.

Excited to be playing with tenor saxophonist Ray Blue at the New Amsterdam Musical Association in Harlem! Founded in 1904, the New Amsterdam Musical Association, NAMA, is the oldest African-American musical organization in the United States.
